Dr. Edward Reiter’s Enduring Impact

Dr Reiter
Retired Chair of Pediatrics Dr. Edward O. Reiter

Retired Chair of Pediatrics Dr. Edward O. Reiter was the key driver in forming Baystate Children’s Hospital more than three decades ago—and now, a generous investment from Dr. Reiter and his family ensures a lasting legacy of exceptional care for the children of western Massachusetts.

In 2012 colleagues and friends joined together to create a fund in Dr. Reiter’s name to celebrate his career and honor his dedication to the field of pediatrics. Recent support from the Reiter family has enabled that fund to achieve endowed status.

The Edward O. Reiter, MD Endowed Fund for the Pediatric Residency Program at Baystate Health will carry on Dr. Reiter’s legacy by continuing his commitment to training the next generation of pediatric physicians and specialists and encouraging residents to stay in the area after graduation.

“Every child deserves the best care no matter where they live,” said Reiter. “I have dedicated my career to ensuring the best care for children exists and thrives right here in our diverse community, and my wife and I support this fund in service of my life’s work.”

“This commitment is a wonderful celebration of Dr. Reiter’s legacy,” said current Chair of Pediatrics and Pediatrician-in-Chief of Baystate Children’s Hospital Dr. Charlotte Boney. “Ed has had a profound impact on the children in our communities and has helped train outstanding pediatricians who practice in this community today. This endowed fund in his name will continue to do so for generations. Thank you, Ed.”
