One of two 2024 Anthony P. Lovell, MD Memorial Endowed Award for Excellence winners, Dr. Kassandra Jean-Marie is continuing her training as a fully-fledged physician with the Family Medicine Residency program at Baystate Franklin Medical Center.
“Dr. Lovell exemplifies the aspirations of all new physicians—a legacy built on genuine care and dedication to others. Being chosen for this award is an honor and will continue to serve as a reminder of my commitment to the Baystate Health community,” said Dr. Jean-Marie.
Dr. Jean-Marie trained as a medical student in the Population-based Urban and Rural Community Health (PURCH) program at UMass Chan Medical School-Baystate.
“PURCH really spoke about all the things I wanted to be when I became a physician. By reading community assessment needs, by listening to the social disparities in the area, by engaging with community leaders and members, we learn to serve the community in the way that fits the patient’s and community’s needs.”
As a Family Medicine resident, Dr. Jean-Marie remains dedicated to “the true meaning of service.”
Family Medicine physicians provide comprehensive care for their patients—from infants to adults—including preventive care, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses, and management of family planning and pregnancy care. People seek out family medicine physicians because:
- They want a doctor who knows them and their family history.
- They want comprehensive care for all members of their family, including preventative care.
- They want a doctor who can handle most of their family’s health needs.
Generosity from donors helped launch the Family Medicine Residency program. Gifts from wills, trusts or beneficiary designations will help fuel its future for the community. To explore a gift, reach out to Kylie Johnson at 413.794.7789 or Kylie.Johnson@BaystateHealth.org.
